Founded in 2025 by Norwegian artist and fashion designer Veronica MONKII Freberg, MONKII Gallery is where contemporary art, high fashion, and curated lifestyle pieces unite to create something extraordinary.

“I was born on September 6th in 1992 in Drammen, Norway. I started painting and drawing right before the covid lockdown in Norway in 2020. It was just a hobby until the summer of 2023 when I suddenly started creating these weird, transgender characters on canvas. They just came to me out of nowhere, I felt as if I was giving birth to them. They are filled with a lot of humor, and I usually laugh until I cry when I paint them. But, as many have said to me, they carry a deep meaning too. That’s the main point. I’ve always felt transgender, even though I haven’t done anything to change my body, and you can clearly see that in my artworks. My characters have huge, oversized heads which represent worrying and overthinking, something I think we should all stop doing. The bodies are tiny, confident and trans. Just like me. I love experimenting with abstract art too, just playing around with colors and undefined shapes. My deepest and most meaningful works are my self-portraits. The paintings speak for themselves. They are emotional artworks filled with stories from my past. They are true pieces of my soul.

My motto is “the world is a playground”. The whole purpose of my life and my art is to inspire everyone to be braver, happier and enjoy life as much as possible. Let go of all your fears and chase everything you dream of. I want all of you to get motivated to just go for every dream, every urge and ignite your soul. You only have this one life, so live it. I’ve survived more than most and it has changed me to the core. It has made me brave and free. When you buy my art and hang it on your wall, I want you to be reminded of how free you can be.
